Scene from my weekend - Mother's Day

Everett as the Statue of Liberty. Can't you see it in the background?

It was a gorgeous, warm and sunny day here in New York City. I was woken up bright and early at 6:30am when Jasper and Everett burst into the room to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. I was happy that they were so excited but I could barely open my eyes. I tried to smile and act like I was awake but all I could think of was, "Just a half hour more sleep!!"

Jasper, in particular, was bursting to give me all the cards and presents that he had made for me over the week. The cards and artwork were very sweet. Everett made me a jewelry box and both boys made me plates at school. Funny thing is that after giving me my presents, they both re-claimed the plates for themselves. Oh well. I honestly really just treasure their art and their drawings in Mommy's Special Book.

We spent as much of the day as possible outside and enjoying the weather, wandering around waterside parks picking flowers and pretending to be the Statue of Liberty, exploring the newly renovated playground in the neighborhood and, of course, eating ice cream. Brothers holding hands and watching out for each other. But also brothers running away from each other.

With this Mother's Day, I realized that it wasn't just about me. I didn't really care about gifts, special meals or anything like that. It was more about making the day special for the boys - letting them celebrate in their cute little ways and showing them that they are loved.

Your boys are gorgeous. And yes, it's really about them isn't it? As THEY made us mothers. Glad you had a good one, and thanks so much for linking up!

The Most important part of Mother's Day for me.. IS getting all but 1 kid (my soldier) together at the same time in the same place. IT is rare thing when they become adults. It is a gift in itself!
AND those Ice Creams look YUMMY! Glad you had a wonderful day!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU MY FRIEND!

Thank you Missy! Those ice cream cones melted so quickly...all over their hands and fingers. Good thing they went straight to the playground sprinklers to rinse off :-)

Thank you my friend. It was a lovely day and yes, those ice cream cones were delicious. I got to eat about half of their ice cream cones because they were melting so quickly!! Happy Mother's Day to you too!

Well, the original statue may have all that national significance and stuff. But for cute? Everett has got her beat HANDS DOWN. Or maybe up. Or maybe one hand up.... Great pictures! Your boys look cheek-chuckably huggable. Though if they are worth their salt they run from the cheeck chuckers in this world as fast as they run from each other.

What a lovely day! Mother nature was shining on us all because it was a lovely sunny day here in Aus as well. My son and I went stawberry picking! And then a lovely afternoon on the beach, watching him swim & play - no surf, but was still a wonderful day! Stay well, cheers

Such a wonderful look on Mother's Day.
And I'm not going to lie...I would fight your kid for that ice cream cone.
I'm kidding I wouldn't.
But I'd ask for a lick.
Wait...
Was that weird.

Thank you! The ice cream pictures are ridiculous. There was an older woman sitting next to us who was, I think, appalled that I was standing there taking pictures instead of wiping their faces.

hee hee. Thanks! I'm not sure what their obsession is with pretending to be the Statue of Liberty but they do it all the time at home. The cheeks are a bit much at times. Definitely irresistible.

It was hard to resist the ice cream cone. In the end, i ended up eating a good portion because it kept dripping all over the place and melting so fast!

It is amazing that even on Mother's Day when the world tells us it is our day off that our hearts remind us that we don't want that day off. Maybe another random day in the year but on Mother's Day, the only place I want to be is around my girls to let them show me why the day is special to them.
Looks like you got just what you wanted/needed and more!
